Pickleball on Native American reservations

Serving hope. MLP to Dallas.

Keys To The Game 🔑

Volley Like a Pro:

Hey folks, happy Monday! Start your week like a pro with a simple and effective volley drill. Here's pro pickleball player Ben demonstrating how it's done. (By the way, if you don't have a partner for this drill, you can use a wall)!

Spotlight 💡

Serving Hope:

Pete Peterson, a dedicated tennis enthusiast, has found a new passion in promoting pickleball on Native American reservations. A member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Peterson recognized untapped athletic potential in Native communities. He co-founded the Serving Love Foundation to introduce pickleball as an inclusive sport accessible to all ages and skill levels.

Unlike tennis, pickleball is quick to learn, making it an ideal choice for community wellness initiatives. Peterson believes that pickleball could provide hope and opportunities for Native youth who may not excel in basketball, the most popular sport on reservations. The Serving Love Foundation's efforts have already begun, with programs on five reservations, and they are gearing up for the 1st Native American Pickleball Championship in Oklahoma City in November, aiming to expand pickleball's reach in Native communities nationwide.

Stay In The Loop 🗞️

1- MLP Dallas is joining forces with the 2023 Biofreeze USA Pickleball National Championships and the PPA Tour (Nov. 5-12), creating the largest-ever pickleball event. MLP Dallas will be held at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas, alongside the Nationals. Approximately 4,000 players from MLP, PPA, and USA Pickleball will participate, marking a significant step toward unifying pickleball organizations after MLP and PPA's recent merger announcement.
