Unleashing the Roar or Embracing the Whispers?
4th shot. Fan experience.
Keys To The Game 🔑
The Overlooked Shot:
Fourth Shot
How do you handle your 4th shots? Do you push your opponents deep or simply return the ball? The fourth shot is so often overlooked by many players. Everyone seems to just talk about the third shot drop, but the fourth shot is just as important.
When faced with a blazing third shot from your opponent, it’s crucial for you to stay composed on your fourth shot. Trying to swing wildly in response to a high-speed ball is impractical as there’s simply not enough time to pull your paddle back and swing. Focus less on speed and more on accuracy when executing this shot.
Instead of boring you with a lengthy explanation, we’ve got you covered with a video of Pro Pickleball Coach Steve breaking down the secrets:

Finding the Balance:
Pickleball fans
As pickleball gains traction and catches the attention of TV viewers, the sport faces a critical question about its character and fan experience. Will it align with the hushed reverence of tennis and golf, or will it embrace a livelier and more interactive atmosphere? Both paths have their merits, but striking a harmonious balance seems paramount.
Current pickleball tournaments already exhibit a blend of player action and animated spectators, generating an energetic backdrop. But let’s be honest. Sporadic bursts of noise after moments of silence can disrupt the flow. Some players, like DJ Young, find constant background noise enjoyable, while others want clear guidelines on fan conduct. MLP has, in a way, embraced this by creating a party kinda vibe at their tournaments.
As pickleball continues to find its voice, the question remains: should rules govern fan conduct, or should players adapt to the changing atmosphere? Let us know your thoughts about this.
